Hello, my name is Firas Bushnaq, I am the founder of many technology startups in the past 20 years. Winware, eCompany, eEye Digital Security and Boxador are the last four companies I incubated and mentored with the help of many great partners and employees. Some I funded with my own capital and some with angel and VC funding. The experiences has been and continue to be great and enlightening. In the next few posts I will be highlighting some of my past experiences, the mistakes I made, the lessons I learned, the great advice I received and the most importantly the great wins I celebrated. I am hoping that you as an entrepreneur can learn from my experience and also explore how we at Boxador are positioned to help you navigate some of the complex obstacles of launching a startup, recruiting great talent, identifying market needs, developing a product, positioning your offerings and raising capital.
Boxador is the second incubator we started, our first incubator was a southern California company called eCompany, from which we started, many products such as, Avataro, ehook, and eEye Digital Security. At eCompany we raised about 7M in funding and for eEye we raised over 25M in funding from Insight venture Partners and Bessemer. eEye currently enjoys the success of surpassing 140M in sales and profitability with a vast list of clients from all five branches of the US department of defense to every major financial institution.
At Boxador, over the past 2 years, we have been involved in funding our own incubations and at the same time we started to invest our efforts in developing and mentoring new entrepreneurs in the startup stage. We consider our selves technology venture capitalists. We do in most cases help in all four stages of the startup cycle. Concept development, design, engineering and launch. Once we have the product up and running in a public beta form, it is time for the startup to graduate to a conventional VC for goto market funding to support sales and marketing. In the next few posts we will be reflecting on some of our own founders experience with market strategy and product development to VC funding.
